A.J. is a retired Air Force veteran and social worker with over 20 years of military service and experience with diverse groups and special populations to foster team work and promote healthy lifestyles. A.J. has specific expertise in veteran assistance, youth mentoring and child welfare as well as mental health & substance abuse intervention, counseling and treatment. A.J. continued his post military commitment to service by active involvement in community and national volunteer service while obtaining additional academic education. A.J. has an Associate of Arts degree from Gulf Coast State College (GCSC) as well as a Bachelor and Masters degree in Social Work from Florida State University (FSU). A.J. is passionate about his Christian faith to include empowering others through leading by example.
A.J. strives to unify others toward overcoming barriers in life. As a church deacon and trustee, A.J. has focussed on being a good and faihful servant willings to do good works. A.J. stays busy in the community through serving on numerous boards such as the GCSC Foundation, GCSC Alumni Council, Millville Community Alliance and Commander of the local Disabled American Veterans chapter. A.J. has been working with youth and familes for many years. He has been a Big Brother mentor for over five years, held leadership positions on other veteran service organizations and remains a steadfast advocate for Habitat for Humanity. A.J. is certified as a veteran service officer to assist disabled veterans. A.J. also holds a state of Florida certification as a Child Welfare Dependency Case Manager (CWCM).
